Gameloft unveils videogames for mobile phones

Gameloft NBA logos Gameloft announced about its agreement with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to develop and publish two NBA games on the mobile phones.

The first one NBA Smash is an arcade style 2-on-2 street basketball game to be released in May. The second one is a 5-on-5 simulation style game to be launched in September 2008.

“The NBA is one of the great global sports leagues whose tremendous popularity spans from North America to Europe and Asia, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to develop NBA mobile games,” said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president of publishing, Gameloft. “By featuring every NBA player and team, along with a spectacular gameplay, our games will deliver an authentic look and feel that will make them stand out from the competition”

NBA Smash! has actual NBA players who are put into an arcade-style 2-on-2 basketball game. As the players try to string together to maximize their score using slam dunks and skillful dribbling. The game has an advanced career mode allowing users to create their own players, form as well as upgrade their teams. They can face off against all the NBA teams.

The second game will be launched prior to the 2008-09 NBA season this September. It will provide an authentic NBA experience for mobile platforms. All the 30 teams and every NBA player will be featured in this game. It includes 80 game seasons and also events from NBA All-Star. The game also includes a management feature that will manage the team rosters and use all the winning strategies to keep up the competition.
