Handmark brings shooter game Platypus to Apple App Store
Many of us may not like the word shooting anymore. But it may bring a smile to the gaming freaks who own an iPhone or iPod Touch. Yes, the good news is that Handmark has announced the availability of its new cult side-scrolling shooter game Platypus on the Apple App Store.
One of its interesting aspects is that every ship, tree and explosion is been hand built using clay, it is then photographed and digital graphics are created for the game. The explosions “splat” instead of “bang” and the game graphics seem almost real.
It’s a highly-acclaimed Mac and PC game from Idigicon and developed by Astraware – the Handmark Games Studio.
“We are so pleased to see one of our most successful titles make its way onto this new and exciting platform,” said Giles Hunter, Managing Director, Idigicon.
As the pilot of the F-27 ‘Platypus’, players have to defend the harmonious Mungola from invasion as they pass through the 20-level mission across 4 huge clay scenarios.
“Platypus is a game that feels so real you just want to touch it – and now on the iPhone and iPod touch you can!” said Howard Tomlinson, Director of Game Development, Astraware. “It is arcade blasting fun at your fingertips!”
The Platypus game is available ay Apple’s App Store for $4.99.
