BlackBerry Services banned in India for Security Reasons

BlackBerry banned in India Tata Services has revealed that the Indian government has denied to offer the BlackBerry services in the country. BlackBerry service offers access to e-mails on mobile phones.

“We have been told that the BlackBerry services does not have scope for lawful interception, may be because it does not have a server in India and it may be difficult to monitor the content,” stated Anil Sardana, Managing Director of Tata Telecom Services (TTSL).

All value added services need to have a prior approval from the government. The company has also submitted all the facts to the Department of Telecom (DoT) and is waiting for response now.

Reportedly, all other network operators offering BlackBerry’s services have also been asked to stop the services. It is said that the Indian government has taken this step for security reasons.

Apart from BlackBerry, there are few other services in the market providing push mail and other e-mail services, which could be in the danger zone too.

If BlackBerry’s services are banned in India, then the company’s phone’s future in the country seems to be very bleak.

As of now, it is being reported that the service providers plan to meet Telecom Secretary next week to resolve the issue.
