Mobile Phones in different use

Deloitte & Touche in the US had conducted a survey on 2081 US consumers on the subject of mobile phones as new media. It was found that 36 percent of the people make use of mobile phones as entertainment devices. This figure has risen up from 24% in March.

Interestingly, about 62 percent of young consumers (13 to 24-year-olds) are using their phones for entertainment, which has increased from 46% in February, whereas 47 percent users, aged 25-41 years, transformed their handsets into entertainment devices, which advanced from previous 29 percent.

It was also noticed that about 20 percent of the volunteers view video content on the handset regularly or almost daily. Around 54 percent make their own entertainment content that includes editing music, photos and videos. While, up to 45 percent create content for others to see. And over 69 percent watch or listen to consumer generated content.

The increase in popularity of Internet-enabled mobile devices has also led to an enhancement of advertising content. It has now been observed that making big bucks by selling content on handsets is one of the dimensions that audiences are looking forward to.
