Mobile Adult Content market to reach up to $3.3 Billion by 2011

Mobile Adult Content UK-based Jupiter research has released results which indicate that the mobile adult service revenue is on its way to experience an outstanding growth. It is expected to achieve a revenue mark of over $3.3 billion by 2011. The increasing adoption of erotic adult entertainment will drive the market upwards from 2006 level of 1.4 billion.

Mobile is the latest channel for the distribution of adult content and with the increasingly rapid roll out of 3G services, incorporating enhanced mobile video and graphics capabilities. A major part of the revenue is expected from the most lucrative regional European market wit the vast Asia Pacific market.

According to the Jupiter Research report, mobile adult entertainment services will generate exceptionally $14.5 billion in revenues, with Europe contributing 39% and Asia Pacific 33%, over 2006 to 2011 period.

Bruce Gibson, Research Director at Juniper Research, commented, “Adult content business models have succeeded in other major delivery media: print, cinema, DVD, PPV TV etc. There is no reason why the mobile channel should not be equally profitable for adult content industry players. The mobile channel will provide a different way of presenting adult content to traditional delivery channels and will reach new audiences. Mobile is about fun and instant gratification. I think the biggest opportunity is at the casual and “softer” end of the adult market – lads in pubs sharing a video clip after a few pints and people looking for a bit of fun when they have spare time to kill etc – not the hard core stuff.”

The company also conducted a research in terms of the mobile adult content market that will approach $3.5 billion revenue mark by 2010. The company drew this conclusion after conducting interviews, looking at case studies and analysis from representatives of some of the leading organizations in the growing mobile adult service industry. The reports said that a major proportion of the new revenue is more from the relatively underdeveloped North American markets.

Speaking about the report, Dr. Windsor Holden said, “While in most forms of mobile entertainment, the brand is king. That truism does not apply in mobile adult content. The most popular genre amongst consumers is graphic, amateur content. If operators truly wish to maximise their revenues from adult content, then they should provide consumers with a mix of genres, in which white-label content is given equal prominence to that of major brands.”

Initially, the mobile content market was more based on text -based services. However, there is a significant change by products and services incorporating high quality graphics and video content. By 2011 video based services will account for over 70% of mobile adult content market revenues.
