Microvision ties up with Motorola for Pico Projector in Mobile Device

Microvision has announced their collaboration with Motorola to include the Pico projector into mobile applications. PicoP is an ultra-miniature laser based display that can fit into mobile phones and notebook computers.

This prototype handset enables the mobile user to showcase small contents onto much larger screen size offering big screen viewing experience. With this device, users can display their content on the wall, object or even a curved surface.

Moreover, consumers can view or share websites or multimedia applications such as movies, personal videos, mobile TV, photographs and presentations on big screen.

Rob Shaddock, CTO, Motorola Mobile Devices business, said “Motorola is committed to driving technology innovation that will enable the next generation of great consumer experiences. Working together with Microvision, we are pursuing ways that projection technology can redefine how mobile consumers view and interact with the media they take with them.”

Tiny Pico projector will make use of the company’s new WVGA 854 x 480 color pixels wide angle scanner.

“With its slim form factor and low power requirements, Microvision’s PicoP projector is optimized for the mobile environment. We believe that our unique display technology, combined with Motorola’s focus on delivering cool experiences, would allow mobile users to enhance their viewing of information and entertainment.” stated Alexander Tokman, President and CEO of Microvision.

No word on the agreement, however, both the companies will work together to get the PicoP inside the Motorola handset for demo use.
