Vertu Ascent Ferrari 1947 Limited Edition Mobile Device Introduced in India
Vertu has announced its latest collection of mobile phones in Mumbai, celebrating India’s 60th Year of Independence along with Ferrari’s 60th Anniversary, the Ascent Ferrari 1947 Limited Edition.

Vertu and Ferrari have planned to manufacture only 1947 handsets in this series. Vertu and Ferrari’s design team have worked together for the design of the Vertu Ascent Ferrari 1947 limited edition phone.
The most interesting segment of the event was not the launch of the cell phone; but the exclusive auction of the Vertu Ascent Ferrari Limited Edition piece numbered 60/1947. Bollywood director-turned auctioneer Karan Johar, Vertu’s Regional Sales & Operations Director South East Asia Pacific, Mr Ranjit Wijedasa, Managing editor of Gladrags Maureen Wadia, and Vertu President Alberto Torres were the highlight of the event.
The proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children located in Parel, Mumbai. Costing around Rs. 3.89 lakhs, the Vertu Ascent Ferrari 1947 Limited Edition was handed over to socialite Sunny Diwan of the Dheeraj Group, the highest bidder for the auction. He is India’s first person to own the Vertu Ascent Ferrari 1947 Limited Edition after paying a humungous Rs. 13.5 lakhs.
Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Ghadvi, director of the Dhoom series, were amongst the other bidders at the event.
Encased in red and black Ferrari leather with black lacquer stripes running at the sides, the Vertu Ascent Ferrari 1947 Limited Edition features Bluetooth support, high-resolution sapphire crystal screen, stainless steel keys and jeweled bearings. It also sports large memory capacity up to 1,000 contacts, 900 calendar notes and 100 SMS. It also provides 4 hours of talk time, with up to 270 hours standby.
However, the luxurious handset doesn’t carry a camera.
Each handset is given a number starting from 1 to 1947 – to pay homage to the year in which the first car to wear the Prancing Horse was built by Enzo Ferrari.
The Vertu Ascent Ferrari 1947 Limited Edition is available in Indian stores across the country from this month.
