These days there are lot of studies that have proved the ill effects of modern devices. Especially mobile phones are in the zone of the most ill-effecting gadgets. To add to the list of such studies, Alliant International University has proved that excessive use of mobile phones causes Ringxiety. A Wired name indeed!

It’s not a physical disease but a psychological one. Scientists at Alliant International University have proved of mobile users being victims of Ringxiety.

Ringxiety patients hear their phone ring or feel their phone’s vibrations when it’s actually not ringing or vibrating. It’s all in the imagination. The more often a user uses his or her mobile phone, more frequent they are likely to hear the phantom ring.

The study undertaken by Alliant International University involved young participants ranged in the age group from 18 to 26. All these participants were heavy mobile users. They spent more time on mobile talks and sent lots of text messages. The result showed that 67 per cent of people suffered from this phenomenon.

The study also discovered that users who rely on text messaging to be in touch with their contacts face higher level of loneliness and social anxiety. This problem is increasing in Japan.

Coming to India, Dr Jitender Nagpal, senior psychiatrist at Vimhans, told The Times Of India that Ringxiety is becoming common in India.

He further said that, “”Frequent mobile users are always anxious. They are on tenterhooks, waiting for the phone to ring, trying to reduce the wait and response period. This also leads to frequent mood changes, irritability and stress. Altered behaviour is common in such cases.”

All we can say that is that the technology invented by man which is surely a boon is seemingly becoming harmful to human health day by day.
