Nokia India to concentrate on CDMA Phone Replacement Market

Nokia India CDMA market As all of us know, Nokia plays a dominant role in the mobile industry in the country, sadly it has not occupied the same presence in the CDMA market. It has a very small margin of game. Thus, Nokia India has planned to shift its concentration on replacements CDMA phone market.

Instead of supplying its mobile phones to CDMA operators, the company aims to focus on the replacement market. At present, the shares in the replacement market of Nokia are around 10 percent.

D Shivakumar, vice-president & managing director (mobile phones) of Nokia India maintained, “Nokia will not be able to provide CDMA handsets priced around USD 20 each.” He also explained that the CDMA industry is price-led.

Nokia, which started operations in India 12 years back, has the largest market share among GSM handset manufactures. However, the reason behind the shift of focus is that the company supposedly was unable to offer low-priced CDMA mobile phones to the operators.

ShivaKumar thinks that innovation is the key to meeting customer satisfaction. Thus, Nokia India also announced that they are planning to release 26-30 mobile devices every six months across various price ranges.
