Trimble Nomad Rugged Windows Mobile Device Released
Trimble has announced the availability of its latest rugged mobile device, the Nomad series of handheld computers. The device is a perfect mobile computing solution for public safety, and surveying, field service, engineering and construction, utilities, mapping, military and other outdoor or service-related applications.
The specs of the Nomad are 806 MHz processor, 128 MB of memory and integrated Bluetooth technology. Besides, it also offers an array of optional configuration such as an integrated GPS, a bar code scanner, 2 megapixel digital camera and 802.11g Wi-Fi.
The user can easily collect, save and transmit data through the advanced features of Wi-Fi when in the field. GPS helps to navigate the location, bar code scanners enables to get information on bar code and click color pictures for inspections and maintenance with the camera.
In addition to all the above features, Trimble also offers Nomad’s CompactFlash (CF) and Secure Digital (SDIO) slots to add more devices such as memory and RFID. It also provides a 5200 mAh rechargeable lithium ion battery up to 15 hours of continuous usage, up to 1 GB of Flash memory and a daylight-visible VGA touch screen display. The Nomad handheld is compatible with Windows Mobile 6.

The Trimble Nomad has already released Nomad 800B and 800L, where as Nomad 800LC and 800LE will be available in August this year. The price of the Nomad series of handheld computers will range from $1,699 to $2,499 (approx Rs. 68,700 – 101,005).
