Tamil Nadu Bans Mobile Phone Usage in Schools

Tamil Nadu Bans Mobile Mobile Phone usage has been the issue of concern for most Indian States. Karnataka was the first to take a concrete step against the mobile usage. Now, Tamil Nadu has joined the gang of ban.

Tamil Nadu has announced an order on the use of mobile devices by student’s within school premises across the state.

Thangam Thennarasu, Tamil Nadu School Education Minister, said, “The ban would apply to students across all age groups to ensure a “healthy and productive academic environment” in schools.” This ban has been imposed in regards to the complaints made by teachers, education experts and parents against the mobile phone culture among school-going students.”

According to parents and teachers, mobiles and obsession of text messaging have been sources of distraction at school, hobbling the teachers and a pillar for student’s educational life.

With this ban, the minister seems to see a ray of hope that the students would come out of the addiction of mobile phones and concentrate on their studies.
