Mobile Magic and Hungama Mobile team-up to offer Media Magic for Mobile Phone Users in India
It was always a hassle to connect our mobile phones to GPRS to download entertainment-related and exciting stuff onto our device. To get rid of the Internet usage from phone, there is a new technique to get all the rich mobile content on your handset.
Mobile Magic, a chain of mobile phone boutique, and Hungama Mobile have announced their partnership to release a new retail service, called the Media Magic. This latest platform will give an opportunity to owners of mobile phones to buy legal and rich content such as games, movies, music and applications from any Media Magic retail outlet. A cherry on the icing is that you can play the content at the outlet and if you like it, you can download it onto your handset. You need not be connected to the Internet; you can enjoy all this content in offline format too.
Media Magic has also tied-up with Shermaroo Entertainment and along with a few others for content. Moreover, in regards to distribution, the company is in collaboration with Café Coffee Day and Planet M.
Vijay Singh, CEO of Media Magic explained, “The broadband penetration is not high in India, but the mobile phone penetration is. We are mainly targeting the 80 per cent non-GPRS enabled device owners of the 225 million mobile phone users in India. Consumers will get DVD quality experience for movies of all languages with all legal content and software, which will ensure many benefits like extended battery life, no hanging and no viruses, etc. We have acquired the license to distribute over 500 movies including regional titles in all languages in addition to Bollywood movies, as well as over 5,000 songs and huge numbers of wall papers and games which would be constantly expanded.”
With the help of the touch-screen kiosk model, mobile phone owners can browse through the content on offer and select the content of their preference to make it accessible on their handsets. You will be provided with a password to download the content.
Mobile Magic plans to achieve a target of over 10,000 retail outlets, nationwide. The cost for English videos is around Rs. 100 per title, whereas Rs. 50 for Hindi movies, while a wallpaper will be priced at only Rs. 3. Besides English and Hindi, users can also purchase other regional language content.
