BlackBerry 8830 Smartphones launched in India by RCOM

Today Reliance Communications popularly known as RCOM and Research in Motion (RIM) together announced the launch of BlackBerry wireless solutions on the CDMA network, in India. Reliance plans to ship the Blackberry service throughout India, in urban as well as rural areas.

The BlackBerry 8830 will be launched in series, in the country. This smartphone is equipped with a full QWERTY keypad, high-speed email and messaging capabilities, a built-in GPS navigator. Besides, it incorporates 64MB of internal memory, which can be further expanded with microSD cards. The phone is also equipped with media player for video and audio files, and also supports video streaming

At the launch Prakash Bajpai, President, RCOM, said “As the first player to offer BlackBerry World Edition smartphone in India, we are confident that our network will offer a superior value proposition to professionals on the move. Reliance is committed to provide world class Solutions on BlackBerry Enterprise server and we will take BlackBerry ‘BeyondEmail’. Now for the first time in India we are launching BlackBerry service with applications such as Internet-based online trading and Blackberry on prepaid. Many more such solutions will follow suit.”

While Norm Lo, Vice President, Asia-Pacific, RIM stated, “BlackBerry smartphones are designed to provide people with the best integrated mobile experience for email, phone, web browsing and other corporate and personal applications. RIM is very pleased to be working with RCOM to further drive the adoption of BlackBerry smartphones and mobile applications in India.”

The BlackBerry World Edition 8830 will cost Rs. 33,990, other BlackBerry phones that RCOM intends to launch are BlackBerry Pearl (Rs 24,990), BlackBerry 8703e (Rs 22,990) and BlackBerry Curve (Rs 24,990). Initially the 8830 and 8803e will be available in 16 cities. RCOM plans to make available the BlackBerry Pearl on its GSM network.

    I bought blackberry8830 in tataindicom one month ago i am faceing many problems with the handsets poor voice clearity, low charging,bluetooth headset not workig properly by this blackberry, its not good to use!
