Nokia Introduces FIBA Mobile Services for Global Basketball

Nokia and FIBA logo Nokia and FIBA, the International Basketball Federation, have teamed up together to create mobile services for FIBA, FIBA Europe and other basketball championship events in 2007.

Additional important basketball events include the Olympic Qualifiers EuroBasket in Spain in September 2007, the FIBA Americas championship in Las Vegas in August 2007 and the FIBA U19 World Championship in Novi Sad in July 2007.

With this latest mobile service, basketball enthusiasts can grab the latest scores, news, schedules, and interviews on their mobile device. This service can be accessed through any Internet-enabled cell phone.

The FIBA mobile services also enable users to enjoy a complete and user friendly mobile video experience. The FIBA mobile content will also be available via Nokia Video Center, which is presently accessible on Nokia N95.

FIBA Commercial Director Matthew Osmon, said “We are delighted to partner up with the world leader not just in mobile device hardware, but also the leader in developing the opportunities that mobile technology offers. We are particularly amazed by the video quality the new Nokia devices offer. The Nokia N93i is an ideal tool for our basketball reporters to, for instance, record video interviews with players and coaches.”

The agreement also allows Nokia Nseries multimedia computers to cover the basketball events at www.fiba.com. It also says that Nokia will deliver Nokia N93i multimedia computers to FIBA reporters for recording high quality video, photo and audio content. All these will be available on FIBA mobile websites.
