AT&T Smart Limits for Wireless offers Parental Controls on the Mobile Usage of Kids
Teenage kids in US seem to irritate their parents because of their mobile usage. Unnecessary calling and text messaging at school timing is commonly found in the youth. To reduce the use of mobile phones, what’s really needed is perhaps a new mobile phone plan with parental control.
AT&T has launched a Web-based application for parents to set the usage limits on incoming and outgoing calls, text messages, and talk time, as well as ring tones and other downloads. This service is called the AT&T Smart Limits for Wireless.
Parents can also restrict their kids from accessing selected websites and even allocate minutes among users of shared wireless plans. AT&T also provides parents with the power to change the limits at any time on the net.
David Christopher, chief marketing officer for AT&T’s wireless unit, said “AT&T Smart Limits for Wireless enables parents to provide their children with the safety and convenience of wireless service while setting sensible boundaries for its use. AT&T Smart Limits for Wireless gives parents peace of mind in knowing they will be able to keep in touch with their children but will avoid unexpected overage charges on their bill.”
Moreover, web-based applications will help parents to make settings on the internet that will allow their children to make or receive calls from parents as well as make emergency calls to 911 anytime.
However, the AT&T service will not work on Apple iPhone because of the Safari browser.
The company said that the service will work on any AT&T wireless phone bought within the past two years. AT&T Smart Limits will be offered as an add-on for $4.99 per month per line without signing up for any contract.
