BlackBerry 8820 Smartphone The new GPS-enabled Blackberry smartphone, called the Blackberry 8820 is in India, on Bharti Airtel and Vodafone’s networks.

The smartphone features the current voice and data mobile connectivity such as EDGE and GPRS, Wi-Fi connectivity (broadband wireless) and a host of location-based applications.

Along with the built-in global positioning system (GPS), the Blackberry 8820 also comes with WayFinder navigation application from Bharti Airtel that has the ability to pinpoint its location. It also supports turn-by-turn navigation as well as plan and share routes.

Bharti Airtel chief marketing officer, mobile services, Sanjay Gupta said, “We are excited to bring India’s first dual mode Wi-Fi-enabled BlackBerry 8820 smartphone to our customers.”

In addition, the new model is also compatible with the 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi standards to enable data access over enterprise Wi-Fi connections. It also offers Roxio Media Manager to easily search, view and organize the media files on the PC. It also enables users to create MP3 music files from CDs, add audio tags, create playlists and automatically copy or convert pictures.

The Blackberry 8820 Smartphone carries a price tag of Rs. 31,990.
