If the Android 2.3 version just wasn’t satisfactory enough, the Ice Cream Sandwich-powered new Aakash tablet will soon drop by as its release date is slated for November 11. This slate will continue with the low-cost tradition and we can expect its price to fall within the same budget-friendly range as the other members from this family.

So here’s what potential buyers can expect from the lot; a 1GHz processor will replace the 800MHz Cortex A8 chipset seen in its predecessor, and assist the Android 4.0 OS in carrying out smooth operations. Users might have to hold on to their charger as this yet-to-be-launched slab comes with a battery life of up to four hours that seems good enough for a slate priced under Rs. 2,000. Lastly, a capacitive display is also in the offing.

The current Minister of Communications and Information Technology announced at the Economic Editor’s Conference held within the country that the president is likely to address over 20,000 students owning the upcoming tablet on November 11. He added that the overall cost of the device will come down to $35, that’s approximately Rs. 1,500. Plus, it will include charges involved in setting up manufacturing activities.

A drafting of the Cabinet note is in the works for the production of five million slates. If we remember correctly, the first tablet from the Aakash family was launched in the country back in October of last year. And as NDTV Gadgets points out, tagging along a discounted cost, it was aimed especially towards students.

Those wanting to get hold of the new Aakash tablet should mark their calendars for November 11.
