Sony brings in competition for Microsoft with atracTable
Microsoft’s Surface will soon get a new rival in the form of an offering from Sony. Well, Sony will be bringing to users the atracTable next month, reports Pocket-Lint. It is the same atracTable which was glimpsed at Vision 2009. Now, Sony has bought this technology from Atracsys.
Talking about Altracsys, it is a Swiss company which had put forth the 60-inch Multi-Touch tangible atracTable in 2008. It is said to specialize in Multi-touch interaction.
Reportedly, Altracsys has completed the prototype and model which will be featuring a full HD screen along with high contrast. Sony will introduce a 35-inch atracTable. This intuitive tablet will let users place devices or objects to bring in interaction.
The system was developed between Sony ISS and Atracsys, and its interface is capable of analyzing body movements and gestures. Apparently, it can also work out the user’s emotions, age and so on. Integrated with two Sony ISS XCD-V60 cameras which form a 3D image, the camera can be used to control a cursor, avatar or robot.
Sony will supposedly release the device next month while the pricing is still under wraps.
