Dyson intros Air Multiplier, a bladeless fan

Dyson Air Multiplier Fan James Dyson has come up with a unique fan model called the Air Multiplier. The highlight of this new fan is that it eliminates the need for blades. This unique bladeless fan is said to multiply air and deliver approximately 119 gallons of smooth and uninterrupted air every second.

The Air Multiplier draws the air into its base. This air is then forced up into the loop amplifier and is accelerated through the 1.3mm annular aperture. This creates a jet of air around the airfoil-shaped ramp. While this air is exiting the loop amplifier, another gust of air is pulled in from behind the fan. At the same time, the surrounding air from the front and sides of the machine are forced into the air stream and are amplified by around 15 times.

“We realised that this inducement, or amplification, effect could be further enhanced by passing airflow over a ramp,” says Dyson. “And of course this was the point where the idea of a bladeless fan became a real possibility. Here was a way to create turbulent-free air and finally do away with blades.”

This safe and simple to clean fan is powered by an energy efficient brush-less motor. It also features a dimmer switch that allows users to adjust the air speed. As the motor of this fan is at the base, the fan can be easily tilted and turned with just one hand.

The Dyson Air Multiplier bladeless fan will be made available at the Conran Shop, Luminaire and Twentieth. The 10-inch model will be offered in blue and iron as well as silver and white color options. This model will retail for around $299.99 (approx. Rs. 13,920). The 12-inch model of this fan will cost around $329.99 (approx. Rs. 15,312).
