Sony’s SACD Car Entertainment Systems with iPod Input Car Audio-Video System announced

Sony in-car audio-video system Sony has introduced its first Super Audio CD-based (SACD) car audio/video system for in-car video head unit XAV-W1 and lower-end car stereo with iPod input called MEX-DV2000 player.

A double DIN-sized vehicle entertainment system, the XAV-W1 features 5.1 surround sound, 7-inch video screen, supports Dolby Digital and Digital Surround signals, JPEG video, Windows Media Audio and MP3 formats.

In addition, it also provides 3.5-millimeter auxiliary port, seven-band equalizer, 52-watt x 4 internal amplifier, a trio of AV inputs, an image viewer, and comes ready to play well with your iPod and satellite / HD radio receiver.

Sony said that SACD makes use of higher sampling frequency and can produce high-quality audio than convention Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) technology.

A single-DIN version, MEX-DV2000 is compatible with multi-channel playback, SA-CD, VCD, CD, CD-R and DVD+/- with Dolby Digital surround sound and DTS Digital Surround Processing playback, Windows Media Audio (WMA) and MP3 audio formats.

Moreover, the latest Sony MEX-DV2000 also delivers 52 watts across four channels for clear sound. In addition, the Sony Drive S II feature makes the head unit resistant to interference from road vibrations.

The price of the Sony XAV-W1 head unit is $800 (approx. Rs. 32,000), whereas the MEX-DV2000 costs $280 (approx. Rs. 11,200).
