Price details as well as the Lenovo ThinkPad T431s release date have been finalized and the rugged yet slim Ultrabook which meets the Mil-SPEC 8 standards will be in stores this April for $949 (approx. Rs. 51,400). Based on the Windows 8 Pro OS, the device featuring the latest generation Intel processors packs a punch in a slim form factor measuring merely 0.8 inches in thickness.

The Ultrabook was launched at the Engadget Expand event held over the weekend. Its hinges have been redesigned to make it flexible enough to open up completely at an angle of 180 degrees and the manufacturer has done away with latches. The logo on the top of the device has been reoriented and it now features LED to let users know if the laptop is on or in the sleep mode.

Rear

Crammed in a chassis with dimensions of 331 x 226 x 20.6 millimeters, it tips the scales at 1.63 kilograms and easily accommodates a 14-inch display. This HD+ screen with a brightness of 250 nits is capable of rendering visuals in 1600 x 900p resolution. And as it integrates Intel HD GPU, it can be expected to deliver advanced graphics too. It runs on either the third generation Intel Core i7 or i5 processor and the former clocks in a maximum speed of as much as 3.3GHz.

While it tags along 4GB of base RAM, the notebook can be configured with additional 8GB DIMM. There’s an option to integrate an HDD of up to 1TB capacity as well as a SATA3 SSD of not more than 256GB storage. It is fitted with a six-row keyboard with optional back-lighting and a 5-button glass touchpad that should understand gestures.

Front

Multiple communication options have been deployed into the system such as Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 for wireless internet and Bluetooth 4.0 for data transferring. A miniDisplayPort, a VGA port, an RJ45 Ethernet input, a 3.5mm headphone-microphone combo jack, 2 USB 3.0 ports and a card reader have been embedded on the notebook. Additionally a 3-cell 47Whr battery hides under the hood to cough up usage time of close to 9 hours at a stretch.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T431s will hit store shelves this spring.
