The Dell Inspiron 15z is now available in India in touch and non-touch versions and can be picked up for a minimum price of Rs. 41,990. The notebook not only offers an optional touchscreen, but also lets users make the most of the latest iteration of Microsoft’s OS and the third generation Intel processors.
The Ultrabook is a highly customizable portable computer which runs on Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors with the latter most being capable of clocking in a maximum speed of 3.1GHz. It is compatible with Windows 8 as well as 8 Pro and offers a choice between 4GB, 6GB (4GB + 2GB) and 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 RAM. This should ensure relatively fast multitasking on the move and support for demanding applications.
Furthermore, the notebook is incorporated with a Mobile Intel HM77 Express chipset and it works towards rendering improved visuals with the assistance of the Intel HD Graphics 4000 which can even be replaced with the Nvidia GeForce GT630M graphics processor. A 500GB SATA hard drive of 5400rpm, can be optioned with a 256GB SSD as well.
It is graced by a 15.6-inch LED backlit Truelife multi-touch or non-touch display and it renders clear and high definition visuals in 1366 x 768p resolution. Fitted with a 1MP widescreen HD 1280 x 720p webcam, the notebook complete with a couple of Skullcandy speakers of 2W each, is deployed with Waves MaxxAudio4 processing audio too.
And what’s more, a DVD drive and a 44Wh 6-cell battery have been integrated into the portable computer system. The Bluetooth 4.0-enabled device either comes with OEM’s Wireless 1703 802.11b/g/n or Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 for internet access. The notebook measuring 21 x 382 x 250 millimeters, tips the scales at 2.17 kilograms and employs a standard, backlit, spill-resistant full-size keyboard.
A multi-touchpad with gesture support for Windows 8 has also been added to the mix. In addition to an 8-in-1 card reader, the device sports a USB 3.0 PowerShare port, 3 USB 3.0 ports, an RJ45 Ethernet output, an HDMI connector, a headphone-microphone combo jack, an AC power input and a Kensington security lock.
