The Lenovo ThinkPad X130e laptop meant for the educational sector that was announced back in December, has finally hit availability status. The durable notebook’s Active Protection System identifies bumps, while its strong hinges can endure up to 30,000 cycles.

The laptop that was slated to hit store shelves before the end of last year, was spotted by Laptop Reviews on the official company website, reports Engadget. The device has undergone military tests and sports rubber bumper around the top cover to avoid damages in case of drops. Also, the strong corners, bezel, hinges and the island style keyboard add to its ruggedness and make it suitable for rough handling. Even the stronger recessed ports offer protection from accidental damages.

The lightweight X130e tips the scale at 3.9 pounds and is fitted with an 11.6-inch HD LED display. The Microsoft Windows 7 based portable PC can support up to a second generation AMD dual core E-450 processor as well as 8GB DIMM RAM for an enhanced multitasking experience. In order to make it suitable for digital learning, the device is integrated with a hard drive of 500GB storage capacity.

Powered by a 6-cell battery, this laptop is said to offer a long battery life that lasts up to 8.5 hours on a single charge. The communication options like Ethernet, Bluetooth, WWAN and WLAN should provide uninterrupted connectivity to students. Moreover, it is also equipped with a low light-sensitive webcam in addition to HDMI and VGA ports to display its content on big screen HDTVs.
