The new Samsung Chromebook price in the US and the UK has stepped out along with its release date details for fans looking forward to the highly anticipated Chrome OS based on the ARM platform. Yes, the device rides into town on that very OS powered by the company’s Exynos 5 Dual processor operating at 1.7GHz.

With a thickness of just about 0.8 inches, this compact laptop tips the scales at not more than 2.5 pounds. It features an 11.6-inch LED HD display that renders visuals in 1366 x 768 pixels and the upper panel is fixed with a 0.3MP webcam for video conferencing while on the move.

Customers can make use of Wi-Fi connectivity for internet browsing, checking mails and downloading content. For hoarding purposes, the Samsung laptop will kick in a 16GB SSD in addition to 2GB of DDR3 RAM. If that’s not enough, users have 100GB of Google Drive Cloud Storage at their disposal.

A set of stereo speakers is even thrown into the mix for an enhanced entertainment experience. The new Chromebook renders support for two USB 3.0 sockets, an HDMI port and Bluetooth 3.0 for extended connectivity and there’s also a 74-key keyboard. On the power front, it comes with a 2-cell Li-poly battery that’s capable of delivering up to 6.3 hours of run time on a single charge. In terms of security, there’s a Guest Mode plus, the device even prevents accidental software installation, malware or altered settings.

The price in the US and in the UK for the new Chromebook stands at $249 (approx. Rs. 13,400) and £299 (approx. Rs. 25,820), respectively. The device is currently up for pre-order through various online stores including Amazon, Best Buy and PC World. It is also up for pre-booking in the UK via PC World and Currys stores. The laptop’s release date is scheduled for October 22.
