Devising efficient computing solutions which enable users and professionals who are always on the go to seamlessly access their important documents and files is indeed gaining a lot of importance. Samsung has now collaborated with Google to introduce its new Series 5 Chromebook.

Crafted with sleek attributes and elegant titan silver or white finishes, the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook houses a 12.1-inch super bright display screen which boasts of anti-reflective and anti-glare capabilities. It renders 300nit brightness for a leveraged viewing experience. As light as 3.3 pounds, the device functions efficiently for around 8.5 hours. The Series 5 battery sports a lifespan up to 1,000 cycles which is touted to be three times more than traditional batteries.

“With the creation of the Series 5 we are again pushing the boundaries of innovation by introducing an entirely new product category to the notebook market,” commented Scott Ledterman, director of mobile PC marketing at Samsung Enterprise Business Division. “This partnership has allowed us to combine Samsung’s design and engineering expertise with Google’s simple, secure software to provide consumers with a revolutionary notebook to fit today’s web-centric lifestyle.”

Powered by an Intel dual-core processor, the device offers a perfect blend of interesting features and style, and can efficiently start up in less than ten seconds. Besides, Chromebooks work on the first consumer operating system which is designed to safeguard against the current threat of malware and viruses. It also provides users with different layers of protection, comprising sandboxing, data encryption, and verified boot. In case of theft users need not worry since all their files are saved online.

“Samsung’s reputation for innovative design and hardware development makes it a great partner to introduce one of the first Chromebooks,” remarked Caesar Sengupta, Director of Product Management, Google. “We look forward to bringing a much better computing experience built around the speed, simplicity and security of Chrome.”

Additionally, an optional VGA adaptor can connect to a second monitor or television, while audio inputs help users attach a microphone, headphones or external speakers. The device also comes equipped with two USB ports, a HD webcam, a convenient island keyboard and a multi-touch trackpad. The connectivity experience is uplifted with options such as 3G, WLAN and a 4-in-1 card reader. Verizon Wireless has teamed up with Samsung and Google to render 3G connectivity for users in the U.S. This network carrier will offer around 100MBs per month of Mobile Broadband service included with device for two years.

The Samsung Series 5 Chromebook will hit stores in the U.S. starting June 15, 2011 via Amazon and Best Buy. The Wi-Fi + 3G model and Wi-Fi only version are tagged at $499.99 (approx Rs. 22,425) and $429.99 (approx Rs. 19,286), respectively.
