HP reveals new ultra-thin Tablet and Notebook PCs

Bringing an ideal combination of manageability, efficiency and mobility, HP has recently slid the wraps off its first multi-touch tablet for business users and notebook PCs for both enterprise and small and midsize businesses.

The new additions to the HP roster include – the HP EliteBook 2740p, HP EliteBook 2540p, and HP ProBook. The 2740p is an ultra-thin, multi-touch-enabled convertible tablet that proffers an interactive experience, while the 2540p claims to be the company’s lightest EliteBook notebook PC, starting at merely 3.3 pounds.

On the other hand, the HP ProBook standard series notebook PCs includes four new models that offer users a new design and sophisticated colors for everyday use. Specifying individually, the EliteBook 2740p tablet PC combines the power and reliability of an HP business notebook PC with the flexibility of a tablet, making it ideal for users on the go. The device starts at 3.8 pounds and features an impressive 12.1-inch diagonal LED display or optional outdoor-view display with less reflection and a higher contrast for easier viewing in natural light.

The 2540p comes equipped with a 12.1-inch diagonal LED display, optional 2 megapixel webcam with business card reader software and HP Fingerprint Sensor. The notebook PC boasts of multiple battery options for lightweight configurations or longer battery life, including a three-cell battery that proffers up to 4 hours, a six-cell battery that delivers up to 8.5 hours, and a nine-cell battery that ensures functionality up to 12.5 hours.

In addition, both the 2740p and 2540p are engineered to meet the tough MIL-STD 810G military-standard tests for vibration, dust, humidity, altitude, and high and low temperatures. Apart from this, both these devices integrate a trial version of HP SkyRoom, a high-definition videoconferencing software for live, real-time collaboration for face-to-face meetings.

Further, the HP ProBook s-series can be snapped up in four unique HD LED-backlit display choices namely the 4320s (13.3-inch diagonal), 4420s (14-inch diagonal), 4520s (15.6-inch diagonal) and 4720s (17.3-inch diagonal). The S-series is enriched with the latest Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors, a choice of Intel HD Graphics or discrete graphics for advanced multimedia support featuring the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4350 and multiple wireless technologies.

The sturdy series also includes new multimedia controls for video and comes loaded with the new ArcSoft TotalMedia Suite to allow users to play, edit and create video and audio files.

The HP EliteBook 2540p starts at $1,099 (approx Rs. 50,361), the 2740p at $1,599 (approx Rs. 73,274), while the ProBook s-series starts at $719 (approx Rs. 32,948). These devices are anticipated to hit the United States next month.
