MSI storms in with Wind U160DX netbook
Yesterday we reported about MSI launching the GT660 notebook for gaming enthusiasts in India. The company has also introduced the performance oriented, light weight Wind U160DX netbook. Powered by the Intel N455 Atom processor operating at a speed of 1.66GHz, the device integrates Intel’s Pine Trail platform.
The device accommodates a 10.1” WSVGA LED back-lit display that exhibits a resolution of 1024 x 600p. It takes about 8ms to refresh exposing users to an enhanced picture quality. The system offers a DDR3 667 memory expandable by up to 2GB through the DIMM slot. It is equipped with a 2.5” SATA 160GB HDD and is fitted with a NM10 chipset.
The TDE turbo technology enhances the gadget’s processing performance besides improving its hardware capabilities. Visual capabilities of the netbook are backed by a GMA3150 graphics card which is shared with the internal memory. The chassis is embedded with a D-sub, a mic-in, a headphone and a RJ45 port as well as three USB 2.0 ports.
The Wind U160DX comes pre-installed with the Microsoft Windows 7 Starter OS. It integrates a 2-in-1 card reader that supports SD and MMC variants. This Bluetooth v2.0+EDR ready device is attributed with a 1.3MP webcam(webcam) and an 802.11 b/g/n wireless connectivity. Aural functions are supported by HD audio along with built-in stereo speakers.
Users can opt to purchase the netbook with either a 3-cell or a 6-cell battery. With the ECO Engine technology, owners can enhance the battery life with the touch of a finger. The device can be operated in five different modes namely Gaming, Movie, Presentation, Office and Turbo Battery. The battery is cited to last up to 15 hours after one charge.
The gadget boasts of possessing a display axle and a blue colored LED power indicator. Owners can select from either gold or onyx tinted film print. Both the sides of the chiclet keyboard are coated with color film print to protect it from scratches. The weight of the device with the 3-cell battery is about 1kg and its dimensions are calculated to 265mm x 165mm x 19.8-25.4mm.
The pricing details of the Wind U160DX netbook are still unclear.
