Lenovo launches ThinkPad T400 along with 7 other ThinkPad Notebooks

Lenovo ThinkPad X200t Tablet Notebook Optimized for outdoor purposes, Lenovo has announced an array of Thinkpad laptops, namely X200, X301, X200s, X200 Tablet, T400, T500, R400 and SL300. All eight laptops are developed for use on field and vehicle semi-ruggedized computing environments such as in public safety, utilities, construction and the military.

Addressing a host of military specifications tests, the durable notebook PCs offer an air-bag like protection system, shock resistant hard drive, spill-resistant keyboard and a roll cage. Further, the new range is designed to survive all-weather conditions such as:

  • Low Pressure – Tests operation at 15,000 feet.
  • Humidity – Cycles 95 percent humidity through the environment.
  • Vibration (operational and non-operational) – Jostles and jolts the laptops to make sure they can withstand shocks.
  • High Temperature – Simulates high heat conditions by baking the laptop up to 140 degrees.
  • Low Temperature – Tests operation at minus 4 degrees.
  • Temperature Shock – Fluctuates between minus 4 and up to 140 degrees to test operation.
  • Dust – Blows dust for an extended amount of time.
  • These portable computing devices are powered by the latest Intel Centrino 2 processor technology for fast processing and feature Blu-Ray DVD player along with a suite comprising of wireless connectivity choices like WiMAX, mobile broadband, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

    Apart from that, the company has concentrated particularly on the features of the ThinkPad T400 laptop. It offers a new optional 680-nit high brightness panel, wide angle screen that ensures excellent screen viewability while on the move. Claiming to offer four times brighter display than conventional ThinkPad laptop screens, its high contrast screen boasts of the ability to reduce reflections with its anti-glare finish. The inclusion of the energy-efficient LED technology, the laptop promises to maintain long battery life.

    The Lenovo ThinkPad T400 laptop is immediately available for purchase through Lenovo business partners for an estimated price of $1,350 (approx. Rs. 67,990). However, the company has not revealed the details of seven other ThinkPad laptops.
