HP is expected to release its first ever netbook with an 11.6-inch display. This new netbook, called the HP Mini 311, boasts of the high-octane Nvidia Ion graphics chipset that it incorporates. The HP Mini 311 is the latest addition to HP’s Mini family after the HP Mini 510. However, this new addition has broken the 10-inch screen norm that was set for netbooks.

The high definition LED display of this netbook flaunts a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The HDMI and the VGA video connectors enhance the appeal of the Mini 311. The Nvidia Ion graphics chipset is coupled with the low-power Intel Atom N270 processor for improved performance.

The Mini shuns the DDR2 RAM in favor of the faster 1GB DDR3 RAM. The other notable specifications of the device include 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Altec Lansing speakers, three USB 2.0 ports and 160GB hard disk drive with a speed of 5400rpm.

This device is said to deliver improved performance that is similar to a full-sized notebook. It is also capable of handling almost all the everyday computing tasks. The HP Mini 311 is expected to release in the US this month. It is speculated that the netbook will retail for around $399 (approx. Rs. 19,385).
