Acer Aspire Timeline with Intel ULV comes to India
Acer and Intel have teamed up to revolutionize the IT world with the launch of the Acer Aspire Timeline series supported by Intel’s new Ultra-Low Voltage (ULV) platforms, in India. This move has enabled Acer to develop light, thin and energy efficient laptops.
Intel’s new ULV Core2 solo processor has enabled the development of laptop PCs which provide a longer battery life, at mainstream prices. These processors are said to be cooler than the standard volt processors. This series is a perfect blend of space, weight, performance, power and price, making it ideal for people looking out for thin, light and silent laptop PCs.
“Time is precious but elusive. We try to capture it, but it’s always fleeing. This has now come to an end. The new Acer Aspire Timeline series marks the beginning of a new era in mobile computing, an era when you have more time to get things done, stay connected and enjoy entertainment” said WS Mukund, Managing Director, Acer India.
The key feature of this series is the eight hour battery life which Acer has achieved without adding bulkier batteries. These laptops are capable of reducing energy consumption to provide longer working hours.
Acer is focused on bringing technology that value adds to the consumer needs regardless of market conditions” states S Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India. “Consumers today want longer battery life, thin and light form factors with great processing technology at affordable prices. Through our partnership with Intel and their Ultra Low Processor Core 2 solo solutions we are pleased to bring leadership technology and notebook PC value to consumers worldwide”
Smart Power key option boosts the power saving capabilities and extends the battery life of the notebooks. Thus, increases the backup of the Timeline series over 8 hours. Intel’s new ULV platform offers these notebooks with a host of features like lower leakage as compared to 65nm technologies, 1066 MHz front side bus, 2x more transistors, Intel HD Boost for multimedia applications like HD video encoding, 6MB L2 Cache and Deep Power Down technology which shuts down processor cores and L2 cache when not needed. These features reduce the power consumption and boost the battery life by 40 percent. The Mobile Intel GS40 Express chipset perfectly complements the ULV processor for enhanced performance.
“Performance, battery life, form factor and wireless connectivity are the four vectors of mobility and consumers base their purchase decision on these. With the new Intel Ultra-Low Voltage (ULV) processor family, notebooks can now measure under an inch thick, weigh much less than before and include wireless options such as Intel My WiFi or WiMAX and yet be affordable for mainstream consumers. We are pleased to work with the Acer Group to being the new Aspire Timeline series which uses the ULV processors from Intel to the Indian market,” said Prakash Bagri, Director – Marketing, Intel South Asia.
Timeline series notebooks measure just 24mm in thickness. The 13.3-inch notebook weighs only 1.6kg while the 15.6-inch notebook is 2.4kg in weight. The cooling technology used by these PCs is developed collectively by Acer, Intel and Laminar Wall Jet. The technology is based on a concept used to cool turbine blades. It adds louvers to the inlet vents, it redirect the cooling airflow to the bottom of the notebook to keep the chassis cool.
The Timeline series complies with the Energy Star 5.0 specifications. Moreover, the Acer Smart Power adapter consumes 66 percent less energy than the energy star specifications as well as automatically stops charging the laptop once the battery is fully charged.
The Acer Aspire Timeline with Intel ULV processor will soon be made available in India but the pricing details are still under wraps.
