Joining the green marathon, Asus has announced the launch of its new Bamboo Series of notebooks. The exteriors of the new notebooks are made from bamboo material.

Apart from its exterior, the notebooks’ batteries have also gone green by having 35 to 70 percent longer life span as compared to other notebooks, thanks to the Super Hybrid Engine. Asus further believes that even without this technology the notebooks batteries are capable of boosting systems’ performance by up to 23%.

The new bamboo series notebooks are powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processors and will feature Windows Vista OS.

The new Bamboo range includes two notebooks measuring 12.1-inch and 11.1-inch screens. The 12.1-inch model includes adds a GeForce 9300M GS for faster 3D, a 2.5-inch hard disk up to 320GB and 802.11n Wi-Fi. While the smaller size model comprises of Intel Core Duo Processor U7600, DDR2 667 MHz SDRAM, 32GB SSD and DVD Super Multi Double Layer.

On other hand, both the models include 8-in-1 card reader and 0.3 Mega Pixel webcam.

The pricing and availability of the Asus Bamboo notebooks have not been announced yet.
