Lenovo Kicks off Olympic Philanthropic Auction in India

Lenovo's auctioned Notebook

Lenovo has begun the first of the three online Olympic philanthropic auctions in India for Olympic fans. Just as the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay will travel around the world, a new Lenovo auction is scheduled to begin each week in a different country, as a countdown to the Olympic Games.

The Olympic philanthropic auction will enable Olympic lovers to bid for Lenovo’s “Cloud of Promise”-themed notebook. Interested bidders can bid on www.lenovohopefundauctions.com for next ten days. This site will be closed on the midnight of March 6th, 2008.

Lenovo 3000 V200 notebook with the special Olympic torch-themed cover is available on auction in India. The notebook will feature striking swirls of silver against a pure red base color on the cover.

Other two auctions in India will start on May 6th and July 29th, 2008, respectively.

“We are thrilled to offer fans the unique opportunity to own these one-of-a-kind Olympic torch themed notebooks,” said Deepak Advani, Senior Vice President, E-Commerce, and Chief Marketing Officer, Lenovo.

“Just as our technology helps bridge the physical gaps among different parts of the world, Lenovo’s goal is to do the same through social investments. In the Olympic spirit of internationalism and cooperation, it is fitting that these Olympic torch-themed notebooks should benefit worthy causes,” Advani further said.

Apart from India, the same kind of auction will take place in countries like Japan, Australia, UK, France, Russia, USA, Hong Kong, Argentina, China, Brazil and Canada. And different Lenovo notebooks will be offered in each country. A total of 36 limited edition Lenovo notebooks are being auctioned around the world.

The auction program will conclude with a final auction in the final week leading up to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, where 12 notebooks, one from each of the participating countries, will be auctioned.
