Fujitsu to Present WoodShell and FMV-BIBLO NX95Y/D Eco-Friendly Notebooks in Milan

At Japan Design 2008, held in Milan, Fujitsu will showcase two special eco-friendly notebooks that are made up of wood. The first product is WoodShell, which is a conceptual notebook and the other is the FMV-BIBLO NX95Y/D, a notebook which is already on sale in Japan.

Fujitsu has gone green by eliminating the use of plastic or metal, which are traditionally used components for developing laptops.

Housed in a wood-based frame, WoodShell is believed to be made of natural materials that include forest-thinned cedar as well as bio-based plastics for its housing and other parts. Fujitsu says that it is the best environmentally-friendly tool as well as incorporates style and utility.

The FMV-BIBLO NX95Y/D notebook comes enclosed in bio-based plastic materials along with other less petrochemical-based materials that have the ability to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, which in turn reduces the burden on the environment.

The company plans to display WoodShell and FMV-BIBLO NX95Y/D notebooks under the sustainable design category at the event, being held from 16th-20th April this year.
