NEC Recalls 970,000 Defective Notebook PCs for Repair

1

NEC laptop Japan-based NEC has announced their step towards offering the repairs of some of the laptop computers on their customers’ request. Customers issued complaints that all of a sudden their notebook PCs were emitting smoke and the smell of a bit of melting plastic was also noticed.

Around 261 computers have been reported as affected. These laptops are from the Lavie and VersaPro line up that were developed between 2003 and 2006. Probably, this incident was because of a design flaw, wherein the wiring installed was too close to the main part of the computer that led to the melting of the wires. Thus, the device emitting smoke and smell of burning plastic was noticed.

However, so far no computers, which have been developed by using flame-resistant materials, have caught fire. In all 970,000 Lavie G Type L and Type F series as well as the VersaPro laptops are found affected.

The company is anticipating 120 more laptops to develop this issue if it is not repaired in time. Luckily, no injuries were reported.

We hope after offering remedies, the laptops work perfectly in good speed and the issues get resolved soon.
