Sub-$499 HP 2133 Mini-Note PC launched for Education Sector
A mini-note PC from HP, which weighs a little above two and half pounds, is smaller and lighter than most math or science books. Here’s a notebook PC that is as light as your notebook, which is developed for education market. It makes use of the hardware and software features, leaving behind papers.
Known as the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC, it sports a suite of wireless, multimedia and security capabilities along with a scratch-resistant display and magnesium hinge bracket. School kids can now enjoy mobility and usability simultaneously.
According to Jeri Callaway, vice president and general manager, Personal Systems Group – Americas, HP, “Education shouldn’t end at the bell. HP believes providing each student with an affordable, creative multimedia tool like the HP Mini will better prepare them to live, learn and work in an information-rich society.”
The 2133 is equipped with a large 8.9-inch diagonal WXGA display, user-friendly full keyboard (QWERTY) and touchpad, optional Bluetooth, in-built Wi-Fi Certified WLAN for children to use internet browsing function to communicate through email, IM, chat, VOIP and blogging. It can connect to printer, mice and headset via Bluetooth.
With the integrated VGA webcam, users can even view video, still-image capture, web conferencing or video-enhanced instant messaging with ease, eliminating the use an additional hardware. The optional Absolute Software’s Computrace can track and help recover stolen and missing computers, with the help of the IT professionals who work with local law enforcement. It also comes with an inventory computers district wide and detects changes in hardware and software.
HP’s latest laptop runs on either three-cell for lightest-weight configurations or optional six-cell that delivers longer battery life. It has HP DuraKeys, featuring a clear coating applied over the notebook keyboard that protects the finish and printed letters and characters and an HP 3D DriveGuard, which sends a signal to shut down the hard drive upon sudden movement or shock by using a three-axis digital accelerometer chip.
Scheduled to roll out in the American market by the end of this month, the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC carries a price tag of $499 (approx. Rs. 19,960).
