Kontron NotePAC Duo, a Rugged Convertible Notebook-Tablet PC Introduced
Kontron has launched NotePAC Duo, which is essentially a notebook PC that can be converted into a tablet PC with the flip-and-rotate display feature.
Powered by Intel Core Duo U2500 processor and Intel 945 GMS chipset, it provides up to 2GB DDR-RAM, dual-core, and a 10.4 inch XGA (1024×768) or wide 12.1 inch WXGA (1280×800) resistive touch-screen.
The 2.2 kg NotePAC Duo is the perfect product for field personnel in law enforcement and public safety as well as utility and field services. The convertible PC offers on-site, menu based data acquisition and computer aided maintenance in the field.
The MIL-STD810-F compliant rugged PC is IP54 dust and rain protected. It also delivers a sunlight-readable option and a built-in light sensor that can automatically adjust the screen brightness, depending on the ambient light for optimal legibility under all conditions.
“When Kontron first introduced the convertible notebook five years ago, we foresaw a European market that needed flexibility and toughness for a wide range of environments,” recalls Mark Swiecicki, Kontron’s director of mobile computing in EMEA. “The NotePAC Duo extends that capability into every imaginable scenario, enabling on-the-go professionals to focus on completing their mission – wherever it takes them.”
Moreover, NotePAC Duo comes equipped with GSM, GPRS, UMTS (HSDPA/EVDO), WLAN 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth V2.0 class 2, x 10/100/1000 Ethernet-T, analog 56 k modem, 2x Cardbus, 2x USB 2.0, 1 x COM and VGA. It also provides access to next-generation wireless data networks.
The compact lightweight PC sports 1.3 megapixel webcam, external USB combo drive (CD write, DVD read) or USB dual drive (CD/DVD write), and optional internal GPS module.
Additionally, Kontron also offers an optional rugged display with protective digitizer screen and stylus pen that gives extreme dirt resistance for hard-core outdoor usage. The PC works on battery that offers operation time of up to nine hours.
With an ability to run on Windows XP or Windows XP Tablet edition 2005, the Kontron NotePAC Duo convertible notebook-tablet PC is currently available with additional ports (2x RS232, 2x USB, LPT, Line in/out, 2 x USB) and a pass-through antenna port for a wireless modem for in-vehicle applications.
