Renaissance AlphaSmart NEO 2 Educational Computers Announced
Renaissance Learning, Inc. announced the AlphaSmart NEO 2 laptop for educational purposes. The Neo 2 is the upgraded version of the NEO.
The NEO 2 includes all the features of NEO such as distraction-free writing, keyboarding and quizzing.
Besides, it incorporates new features like two-way communication through the use of radio frequency (RF) technology, which will help to maximize classroom participation. Also, it enables instantaneous formative assessment, and provides wireless printing from anywhere in the room.
NEO 2 will also run a number of Renaissance Learning software programs, including the company’s flagship product, Accelerated Reader.
Furthermore, the NEO 2 introduces wireless interaction by way of an RF transmitter, which on a simple level enables tasks such as printing remotely, but can also be used for assigning quizzes and receiving instant feedback.
“We are extremely pleased to offer educators another easy-to-use classroom tool that helps them incorporate technology to accelerate learning by providing more targeted instruction, while saving valuable time,” said Greg Wright, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Renaissance Learning’s Electronics Division.
He added ahead, “The NEO 2 is an essential element in teaching across the curriculum, from reading, writing, and math, to science, social studies, and beyond. And of course, it is major news that NEO 2 will run Accelerated Reader.”
The AlphaSmart NEO 2 will be available in the market by March 2008.
