Asus U3S GPS Laptop Unveiled

Asus U3S GPS Notebook Asus has introduced the world’s first mainstream laptop called the Asus U3S, which comes with an integrated GPS capability. Asus has partnered with NXP Software to develop this notebook PC.

The swGPS Sport software GPS baseband technology from NXP enables the U3S to provide all necessary GPS signals. This helps users to access the fast-growing range of location-based services from navigation and local search to mobile social networking, or theft protection.

The 13.3-inch widescreen laptop works on Intel’s Centrino Duo platform, Windows Vista and delivers a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. It features a 1.3-megapixel webcam, an Nvidia GeForce 8400GM graphics chip, 128MB of video memory and HDMI port.

Coming in a piano black lid, a magnesium alloy chassis, stainless steel trim and leather palm rests, the U3S runs on Core 2 Duo processors, at least 512MB of 667MHz DDR 2 memory and 100-160GB of SATA hard drive storage (optional external drive available).

In terms of connectivity, the GPS laptop sports USB unit, 802.11a/b/g or 802.11n Wi-Fi, optional Bluetooth 2.0 and standard Gigabit Ethernet.

Asus U3S GPS notebook PC is expected to be available in the UK by end of this month with the price tag of £1599 (approx. Rs. 1,29,720).
