I heard from a friend in the US that they are having lot of hardware related problems with Pavillion Notebooks. Since the production is not from the US, they have been unable to control the quality.

Have a 5 mo old dvd6500 with many hardware problems. Loose connectors, TV card sticks - hard to remove, then webcam started failing and things inside started rattling despite me treating it with kid gloves. HP has agreed to accept it back and replace if needed.
Very disappointed since this is a critical tool I need for college and I will be without one for weeks. SOunds as if it were simply slapped together in China.
