-the lcd tv in india are overpriced compared to the price in other countries.
-to compare lcd tvs, apart from Full HD ; 1080p; one should also consider contrast ratio ( 50k:1) and 100Hz

    -lg scarlet 42 LG 60 is Rs 77k = $ 1710
    -sony KLV 40V400A is Rs 84k = $ 1867
    -sony W series is Rs 104k = $ 2311
    -sony X series is Rs 154k = $ 3422
    -sony S series is Rs 77k = $ 1710
    -samsung series 6 with 50k:1 contast & 100hz is Rs 109k = $ 2422
    -samsung series 6 with 40k:1 contast is Rs 84k = $1867
    -samsung series 5 with 35k:1 contast is Rs 74k = $ 1645

sony w series has contrast of 30k:1 and v series has 25k:1 . Its s and v series do not have 100 Hz.

Hence coming to apple to apple comparison, one should not go by SONY name and buy a sub standard product.. in fact sony matters only at top specs ( series X.) at lower ranges, why not go for cheaper alternatives..

i have not got much info on other models like haier,toshiba,hitachi..if anyone can find that too?
