Asus PadFone 2 release date marked for holiday season in Europe and Asia

After basking under the rumor limelight for quite some time now, the Asus PadFone 2 release date has been slated to fall before the end of this year. And based upon the same design concept as its predecessor, it too serves as a smartphone, tablet and a notebook.

The 4.7-inch handset’s features a Super IPS+ resistive display that offers a resolution of 1280 x 720p against the 4.3-inch one seen in the earlier version. That’s not all; it packs in a 13MP AF rear-facing snapper with f2.4 aperture for capturing images as well as recording clips and there’s also a 1.2MP secondary camera for video conferencing. It provides a scoop of the Ice Cream Sandwich platform, while being powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor that ticks at 1.5GHz. This smartphone is juiced up by a 2140mAh Li-ion battery.

Moving on to the tablet, it tags along a 10.1-inch WVGA IPS capacitive touch panel that’s protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass coating to prevent scratches. When docked, customers can take advantage of the 1MP secondary camera to conduct face-to-face chats. The Asus PadFone 2 station weighs not more than 514 grams and provides a 13-pin dock connector as well as a set of built-in speakers. Moreover, it comes with the company’s SonicMaster technology to enhance the sound quality. Under the hood, a 5000mAh battery powers up the Asus slate.

The price for the Asus PadFone 2 is still under wraps. But as mentioned earlier, its release date has been scheduled to fall before the end of December for countries in Europe and Asia. Potential buyers will be able to pick it up dipped in shades of black and white.
