Boxee v1.5 update rolls out, Box Live TV dongle starts shipping

The Boxee v1.5 update has started rolling out to Boxee Boxes while the new Live TV feature is said to enhance the entertainment options of users by manifolds. Besides this upgrade, the Boxee Box Live TV dongle which was announced a couple of months ago, has now also been made available.
The official Boxee blog reports that the highlight of version 1.5 is the Live TV feature which has to be used along with the freshly released dongle. The feature boasts of an all-in-one interface that allows users to gain instant access to more TV show’s episodes from the web after they have finished watching the limited broadcasted series of episodes on the television.
Owners are able to edit channels by adding new ones and deleting the unused ones. The incorporated Social Channel Listings functionality displays which shows the users’ friends are currently viewing as well as the number of people watching a particular show. If they wish to share their favorite shows and episodes with others on social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr, they can do so by employing the company’s Live TV Timeline app. This application automatically updates users’ Facebook posts to the show they are currently viewing.
Although the Live TV feature does not support DVR functionality, the company is working on incorporating it soon. The updated Boxee boasts of a revamped user interface and appearance along with new library screens featuring simpler filtering options.
The Boxee Box Live TV dongle is now available for a price of $50 while the Boxee 1.5 update will be rolled out within the next 72 hours over the air.
