Google TV coming to Europe, Americas with Sony NSZ-GS7 internet player

Sony and Google have taken the web browsing experience onto the big screen with Google TV hitting Europe and the Americas via the Sony NSZ-GS7 internet player. European pre-orders for the same will commence this July, while the US store has already begun accepting pre-orders.

The internet player with the TV services will first set foot in the UK, followed by countries like Canada, Australia, France and Germany. It will later be up for grabs in Brazil, the Netherlands, and Mexico. Meanwhile, the company’s NSZ-GP9 Blu-ray Disc player bundled in with the TV services will first hit the US by October. Soon after, it will hit countries like Canada, France, Australia, UK, Germany and Netherlands.

“Expanding the reach and interoperability of the powerful Android platform with Sony’s smartphones, tablets and renowned Audio & Video products, we are proud to continue our relationship with Google through the introduction of the new Google TV Internet Player,” asserted Gildas Pelliet, European Head of Marketing. “Entertainment content is available through so many channels and sites, and Google TV helps consumers easily find what they want to watch, listen or play with the freedom of the internet and using the familiar Chrome browser.”

With the default Google Chrome browser, users can search and access popular websites like Youtube, Twitter and Facebook. The dual-sided remote is fitted on either side with a touch pad that provides cursor controls and a full keypad for easy typing. The Blu-ray Disc Player helps in searching for content via voice commands. The remote is also equipped with a motion sensor for gaming hours. The free Media Remote app can be used to operate the device via other gadgets like a smartphone or a tablet.

The Sony NSZ-GS7 price is chalked at £200/€200 (approx. Rs. 17,745). It will be up for grabs from July via the company’s official website. The Sony NSZ-GP9 price is tagged at £280/€300 (approx. Rs. 24,840) and it will be available for purchase by October this year. Sony says that the NSZ-GS7 internet player will be made available across the US on July 22 for $199 (approx. RS. 11,345), while the NSZ-GP9 will make it in time for the holiday season carrying a price tag of $299 (approx. Rs. 14,045).
