Toshiba Thrive 7-inch tablet to release in U.S. this December

Toshiba Thrive 7-inch tablet which was recently announced by the company is all set to retail in the United States by December 2011. The company has lately also started shipping the Toshiba Canvio 3.0 HDD series.
Weighing just under a pound and with a body as thin as 0.47-inch, the Toshiba Thrive tablet features a LED backlit AutoBrite multi-touch display with 1280 x 800 resolution. Multitasking on this device is supported by the latest Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system paired with the Nvidia Tegra 2 Dual Core processor. Also, it delivers console quality gaming with the Nvidia GeForce graphics. It consists of dual cameras, a primary 5MP one on the rear for clicking pictures while a 2MP on the front to facilitate video chatting.
“This is a seven-inch tablet done right,” said Carl Pinto, vice president of product development, Toshiba America Information Systems, Digital Products Division. “The Thrive 7-inch tablet is the first seven-inch tablet in the U.S. market to offer a true HD display that when combined with the selection of ports, premium audio, and a better, more robust Android experience make it a great choice for on-the-go consumers looking for a no-compromise tablet.”
The device sports mini USB, micro HDMI, and a microSD card slot on the side for sharing content with other gadgets, whereas also offers options like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity. Additional features include the Toshiba File Manager utility which enables users to organize and access files in a better manner.
The Toshiba Thrive 7-inch tablet will be made available through toshibadirect.com and all major retailers and online dealers. Users can select from 16GB and 32GB configurations to suit their needs.
