Samsung rolls out New DVD, Blu-ray Players in India

Samsung has unveiled a new range of DVD and Blu-ray players in the Indian market. These next generation players include Pebble (DVD-F1080) DVD player, BD-P1400 Blu-ray player and BD-2 home theater-in-a-box.

Samsung DVD Blu-ray Players

Pebble, an ultra-compact high definition DVD player, boasts to be slightly larger than a DVD disc, but is yet powerful and user-friendly. It makes use of touch sensitive controls and incorporates the ability to convert standard 480p discs to 720p, 1080i or 1080p. The other specs include the compatibility with multimedia file playback such as DivX, MP3, WMA, MPEG4 and various other formats.

The all-in-one Samsung BD-P1400 player allows users to play Blu-ray, DVDs or CDs from one unit itself. They are allowed to connect it to other digital peripherals through an HDMI 1.3 port without any hassle. This would deliver enhanced color. Further, it supports Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus audio playback, Dolby True HD, DTS-HD high resolution and master audio, 5.1 channel output.

Samsung BD-2 claims to be the industry’s first home theatre-in-a-box that enables Blu-ray playback. It offers 7.1 channel Home Theater system, which provides 1100 watts of surround sound and full HD1080p Blu-ray play back.

Besides these models, Samsung has also launched seven new DVD players in the country.

The flagship model of Samsung’s new 2008 DVD range – Pebble costs Rs. 5,900, and BD-P1400 retails for Rs. 29, 000/.
