Kindle Paperwhite price in Canada disclosed, device now available

Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite eReader has crossed the border, and is now also available in Canada with its price set at $139 CAD (approx. Rs. 7,450). Hailing it to be the ‘most advanced eReader ever constructed,’ the company has finally released it for the country in both its Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G variants. The cost of the latter has been placed at $199 CAD (approx. Rs. 10,660). Moreover, the latest generation Kindle has also been launched there, slapped with a tag of $89 CAD (approx. Rs. 4,770).

Kindle Paperwhite as well as the latest variant of the basic slate are not only selling via Amazon.ca, but also through more than a thousand retail locations, including Staples, The Source and Shoppers Drug Mart. Users even have access to the online Kindle Store which grants them a large selection of selection of best sellers and over 250,000 exclusive eBooks which they can download and read on their devices.

Device 1

The Paperwhite which was released in October last year comes equipped with a 212ppi display that renders 62 percent more pixels and 25 percent higher contrast than the previous generation slab. This screen features a Backlit LCD trait which is said to lessen eye fatigue and strain during long hours of reading. Furthermore, it is able to deliver 8 weeks of battery life with wireless connections switched off.

New hand-tuned fonts also make their way into the device, offering its users a choice between 6 font styles and 8 adjustable sizes. The dimensions of this slate read 16.9cm x 11.7cm x 0.91cm, while its weight has been set at 213 grams. It comes with 2GB worth of storage space, whereas free cloud storage is also included in it for all Amazon content. Its 6-inch screen has been fitted with a new capacitive touch technology which is claimed by Amazon to grant better touch accuracy.

The latest generation Kindle on the other hand, is being described by its maker as the smallest, lightest and most affordable product from this range ever. It carries fresh attributes such as improved fonts, 15 percent faster page turns and more. In addition, it now supports children’s books and comics as well. This tablet, along with the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G versions of the Kindle Paperwhite can be purchased in Canada now at the above mentioned costs.
