Extended battery life and native PDF reader included in latest Amazon Kindle

Voracious readers who use Amazon Kindle, which is a portable reader, can now utilize it even more significantly. Amazon has upgraded its latest version of the Kindle by adding two new enhancements to it. The device will now deliver 85 percent more battery life and a local PDF reader.

Instead of the usual 4 days, Kindle’s battery life is now 7 days even with wireless turned on. Battery life with wireless switched off stays at the preceding level of up to two weeks. The company also proclaimed the availability of intergraded native PDF reader in the 6-inch Kindle. This facility allows users to read professional and personal documents in their original PDF format without conversion.

Ian Freed, Vice President, Amazon Kindle, commented, “Kindle, already the #1 bestselling, most wished for, and most gifted product on all of Amazon.com, is now even better—with 85 percent more battery life and a built-in PDF reader. These two significant enhancements are available now.”

To read their personal or professional documents, Kindle users can merely email PDFs to their Kindle email address or shift them over via a USB connection. Users who wish to convert heir PDF documents to the Kindle format must just type ‘Convert’ in the heading of the e-mail when they are transferring documents to their ‘@kindle.com’ mailing address.

Amazon also declared that prior buyers of the new Kindle can obtain the 85 percent battery life enhancements with wireless on, and native PDF support by means of a firmware update mechanically delivered using Whispernet wireless. Native PDF support will also be accessible for a few former versions of Kindle through an automatic Whispernet wireless firmware update.
