Handheld Super Computers May Now Be Possible

Super Computer in Hand Engineers at the University of Edinburgh paved the way for the possibility of the small supercomputers.

For coming to such conclusion of creating handheld upper computers, experts first studied behaviour of wires which were 1,000 times thinner than human hair. Later, they created a tool which could help develop tiny microchips.

Researchers at University of Edinburgh has teamed up with Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany and the University of Rome, Italy to research small super computers.

The study is expected to bring medical advances. Also the technology will make other portable computing devices such as laptops, mobile phones powerful.

Dr Michael Zaiser, of Edinburgh’s school of engineering and electronics, told BBC, “What we found is when we made these wires smaller and smaller they started to behave in a very funny way.”

“Holding a supercomputer in the palm of your hand will one day be possible – and we are going to make sure all the wires are in the right place,” Zaiser added.

According researchers the new findings ensures that wiring in electronic devices remains effective, even in a supercomputer the size of a matchbox.
