Magellan to offer eXplorist 510, 610 and 710 Outdoor Handheld GPS Devices

In the first week of July, Magellan GPS came up with new waterproof TouchCase skin for the iPhone and iPod touch.Now, the company uncloaked sturdy eXplorist handheld GPS devices for outdoor enthusiasts. Adventurers can enjoy various striking options and enhance their everyday experience as the latest eXplorist 510, 610 and 710 helps to navigate outdoor destinations, geotag photos and also share their experiences online.

These devices come packed with high-sensitivity GPS, an intuitive user interface, easy to read mapping and precise navigation. These devices adorn a 3.0-inch color touch screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus to collect geo-referenced images, videos and voice notes.

The eXplorist series is water resistant and comes integrated with the most precise worldwide map in the industry. Magellan’s World Edition map encompasses entire road network for the U.S., Canada, Western Europe and Australia.

The eXplorist 710 merges the finest on-road and off-road navigation, includes Summit Series and City Series integrated maps with turn-by-turn navigation. The eXplorist 610 and 710 offers a 3-axis electronic compass and barometric altimeter that highlights accurate direction, exact elevation information and helps to track weather pattern.

The eXplorist series bundles together many enticing features like OneTouch favorites menu which helps to immediately access bookmarked locations, searches and functions. The industrial design includes silent proximity alarms. The devices offer two customizable hard buttons to capture a photo, highlight a waypoint or provide speedy access to various other preferred features.

Essential features like expandable memory, paperless geocaching, GPX compatibility, and around 16 hours of battery life enhance the utility of these devices. Additionally, these devices include high sensitivity GPS enabling 3-5 meters of accuracy, vertical profiling, digital almanac, track summary statistics and area calculation.

The eXplorist 510 GPS device will be available for USD $349.99 (approx Rs. 16,300), the eXplorist 610 for USD $449.99 (approx 21,000), and the eXplorist 710 for USD $549.99 (approx 25,600). The devices will come bundled with a standard mini USB cable and two lithium disposable AA batteries. These products will be available to consumers in North America, Europe, and many other countries worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2010.
