Alpine releases PND-K3msn Navigation System featuring MSN Direct Content
A new GPS device is here to offer access to MSN Direct Content for augmenting the navigation experience.

The all-new PND-K3msn portable navigation system from Alpine has hit the market for drivers to get updates on valuable information on the road.
To aid drivers for important decisions while on the go, the unit flaunts the incorporation of MSN Direct’s continuously updated Smart Traffic information. It promises to provide easy access to content such as traffic, weather reports, gas prices, movie times, news and alerts, local event information and stock prices. This application comes with a free three-month subscription and offers a wireless coverage in 134 metropolitan areas in the US and Canada.
Alpine provides their graphical user interface (GUI) to display the MSN Direct’s content in a user-friendly format. Further, the “Send to GPS” feature from MSN Direct also enables drivers to search addresses, business listings and other locations on Live Search Maps at maps.live.com. Moreover, they can wirelessly send the information directly to the PND-K3msn from a PC.
“The PND-K3msn combines Alpine’s well-known heritage and reputation in high-performance in-vehicle navigation with MSN Direct’s comprehensive set of location-based services,” mentioned Joe Coco, Product Unit Manager of MSN Direct at Microsoft Corporation. “The combination helps consumers save time and money during their daily commute, family vacation or business travel.”
“The PND-K3msn is a powerful navigation unit on its own. By adding MSN Direct content, drivers are able to get the up-to-date information they need and want easily at their fingertips,” said Stephen Witt, Vice President, Marketing, Alpine Electronics.
Coming to other features, the PND-K3msn bundles an innovative OnPoint Advanced GPS Positioning to perfectly be sited on the map even in areas where a GPS reception is difficult to receive. It is possible with the three technologies such as satellite-linked positioning data, solid-state gyro sensor technology to determine the vehicle’s direction, and accelerometer technology to estimate the vehicle’s speed.
Some of the other features of the Alpine PND-K3msn navigator include a text-to-speech support to announce turn-by-turn driving instructions and street names, assistive mapping visuals for clear notification of one-way streets and 6 million Points of Interest (POIs) with “POI Search Along Route” feature. It also comes preloaded with NAVTEQ maps of the United States and Canada along with Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
There’s more to the kitty, the GPS gizmo also has an inherent Parrot’s Bluetooth for convenient hands-free phone calls, a built-in SD card slot to access WMA/MP3 music files, an integrated loudspeaker and customizable map and menu color schemes with eight different color options.
The Alpine PND-K3msn portable navigation system is immediately available for purchase at a price tag of $299.95 (approx. Rs. 15,156) via authorized Alpine dealers across US.
